There have been so many questions about tear stains on dogs eyes and feet.  Many of these stains, usually reddish, comes from chemicals common in most water.  Mostly from iron in the water.  Show dogs do not suffer from this affliction. Why, because the owners know the secret.  Quit trying to fix these stains after they occur.  Angel Eyes and other like products try to reverse the biological action that occurs and results in stains. 

 Instead, the real answer is to stop the chemical reaction in the dog’s body before it occurs.  The question is HOW?

The answer is simple.  DISTILLED WATER.  DISTILLED, not purified, not spring, DISTILLED.  The distillation process removes all impurities from the water and in effect changes the total characteristics of water.  Giving your dog ONLY distilled water is the single best step you can take to eliminate eye stains and paw stains that result from licking.  

It takes a bit of time to work, so do not give up.  It takes about 6 months for the chemical reaction occuring in your pet to totally stop.  Once stopped, it will take a while for the hair to grow out unstained.  All in all this process can easily take a year or more.  Show folks never give their dogs anything but DISTILLED water so the reaction never gets started in them.

There obviously are other causes, but water is the main cause.  The dog can have other sources of iron, usually in dog food, but this is usually secondary to the iron in the water.

We are NOT talking about oozing stuff in the eyes or eye infections, just reddish staining.
