Great Scheduling Leads to Better Sleep, How to Approach It.

Many moons ago when I started working I was a scheduler for various manufacturing place and learned many methods of scheduling. Then, I worked as a Project Manager for IBM and learned even more scheduling approaches. Every situation has a way, or a few, to schedule. With 17+ years in grooming, I figure out this method that has worked well over the years. You have to approach it in stages and it might take you 3 years to get there, but that would be my goal for implementing this approach.

As quickly as you can you need to expand your scheduling horizon. Get folks to schedule their next appt. After an appt or two, let them know that you are getting busier and want to make sure they don’t get locked out, can I schedule you every x weeks for the next 6 months. After you get folks to fall in line, let them know that you noticed that people booking appts further apart, like every 6 weeks or quarterly, were filling up the schedule and blocking people wanting 4 week appts.( put the correct number of weeks in to fit the situation) This being unfair, can I schedule you for the next year? I would rather have you cancel than get blocked out. Blah blah blah, and this also ensures that when holiday season comes your pet will get groomed for your company.

This approach has hoards of benefits to you.
1) You know where your openings are.
2) You now have a predictable income stream.
That income stream is important when you need a loan for equipment, repairs or expansion
3) You will sleep better at night.
4) You are showing your customers that you are interested in them benefiting from being regulars.
I hate businesses that give new people stuff and don’t show the people that have supported them some sort of benefit.
