I have a Groomer’s helper, but even if I didn’t I always use a neck loop and a belly band.  This is so if the dog should try to walk off the table they will not end up hanging themselves.  Another advantage is that when I have a dog with a long tail, like Shih Tzu’s and Lhasa’s, I can wrap the tail around the belly band and hold it in place with a hair clip.
